Our Journey to Financial Independence
Some mornings, I like to picture what life will be like once we reach financial independence. A quiet cabin by the lake, coffee in hand, no work emails or deadlines hanging over me. Maybe the day is spent reading, hiking, or just playing outside with our son. Maybe it’s a road trip. Maybe it’s nothing at all. Just time—ours to spend however we want.
My wife and I started seriously working toward FIRE when we were 30, setting a goal to reach it within 15 years—🔥 Fire in 15 🔥. It’s ambitious, sure, but not impossible. As we juggle raising our son, taking care of our dog, and making sense of life’s expenses, we’re figuring out what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a future with more flexibility and less stress.
This site is where I document that journey—not as an expert, but as someone navigating it in real time. I’ll share strategies that have helped us save and invest, the missteps we’ve made, and the trade-offs we’re still debating. Along the way, I’m also building tools—things like net worth calculators and savings trackers—not just for us, but for anyone trying to make sense of their own numbers.
Financial independence isn’t about escaping work or chasing some perfect lifestyle. It’s about having choices. And for us, that choice is about building a life where we have the time and freedom to focus on what actually matters.
